Most negative thoughts come from overthinking, either dwelling on the past, or worrying about the future. Let go of constant thoughts about yesterday and of tomorrow. Appreciate that you are here, now, in this moment.
I know, easier said than done right? When you’ve got a head full of all sorts, day to day life, family, work, the past, the future, today, tomorrow, money, health, planning, worrying, a song going on in the background on repeat, a spot of daydreaming perhaps.....it’s difficult to switch off that busy, overthinking mind. But you can! Really truly, it just takes a moment of pulling yourself back into the here and now!!
A wonderful and really easy way to get that mind to pipe down it’s non stop chitter chatter is to become aware of your senses. Try it, just for 5 minutes, spend a few moments and become more aware of the sounds you can hear around you, the scents you can smell, the sensation of the air on your skin or the contact points with the seat beneath you. Be fully in the present moment. Look all around & describe to yourself the things you can see, smell, hear, feel. Suddenly you will notice that overthinking busy mind of chitter chatter has become blissfully quiet. This is a really easy mindfulness practice that we can all do, anytime. It’s also great for moments of anxiety or panic, and the more we do it, the more peaceful a place our mind can become 💛
